Real Estate Market

We Love Mountain Living!

The real estate market heads into summer

As we hit summer in Summit County our real estate market heats up. Buyers are in town buying and properties get snatched up. This summer is no different.

Inventory levels are down 12% from this time last year.  A lot of ground has been made up since January when inventory levels were down 27% over the previous year. I don't think it's making up as much ground as it sounds like though.  The demand and the pricing have helped some sellers put their properties on the market sooner than normal. That makes inventory levels look higher now but I think we will still feel the pinch as summer progresses.

Sales in May of 2017 were stronger than those in 2016, up 8%, but our 12 month sales data shows sales slightly behind overall. It's a very slight decrease of only .5%. However, Copper Mountain is the only Summit County town showing an increase in number of sales over the last 12 months.

The environment of low inventory and strong sales continue the seller's market we have been in since September of 2015. I don't expect any drastic changes this summer. Of course, no one ever knows what the future holds.
