A big thank you to Representative Dan Gibbs D Colorado

I met State Representative Dan Gibbs for the first time at a friend’s house the other night.  I have been to meetings he attended and have often seen him around the county, but it was the first time that I spent any time talking to him.  He is a young guy, very polished and personable.  He has done a wonderful job for Summit County.  I thanked him for the funding he got that is allowing the Forest Service to remove many of the beetle killed trees that are affecting our neighborhoods so negatively.  As Vice-Chair of the Transportation and Energy Committee, he got funding approved giving truckers more places to pull over and chain up their rigs, hoping to avoid closures of I-70 in the wintertime.  He was able to get legislation passed increasing fines for truckers without chains who clog up the highway.  I-70 is an important route for all of Colorado, and can be difficult to keep open in the winter.  This will help immensely!

I am sure there are many other projects he has worked on of which I am not aware, but I know that he is working for my best interests here in Summit County, Colorado.  Before he left, he handed me his business card and told me to be sure and call him if I needed anything.  He also let me know that his cell phone number was on his card.  It turns out he lives just a few blocks away from me.  How is that for approachable?

I was very impressed.  I am an independent voter, seldom voting for any particular party.  I vote for the person, not the party.   This Democrat will have my vote next time he runs for anything.
