Summit County Colorado vs Central Oregon

It seems that any time I hear of people leaving Summit County, Colorado to go somewhere else to live full time, it is either to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, or to Mt Bachelor behind HoosmerCentral Oregon, often near the area of Bend.  The home prices are reasonable, skiing at Mt Bachelor is still close, and the area is similar in appearance, with many trees, lakes and mountains.  A friend of mine, Thesa Chambers, a Realtor in the nearby Sunriver and La Pine, Oregon towns, recently wrote a post on her blog about the different areas near Bend and I thought that you might enjoy learning a little more about Oregon.

Thesa says:  Bend is our largest city in Central Oregon most of the larger employers are located here.  There are some great mountain views, a downtown area that is very historic and wonderful parks that many neighborhoods border.  Bend is one of the fastest growing cities in America.  Bend offers a lot of options for the home buyer, from larger lots and even acreage to small almost zero lot line living.  Some of the most popular areas of Bend are on the west side.  Bend does get snow but for the most part it does not stay for very long”.

For more about the surrounding towns of Redmond, Terrebonne, Sunriver, La Pine, Three Rivers South, Caldera Springs, Crosswater and Oregon Water Wonderland, (that is some name!) visit her blog www.centraloregonbuzz.com. Search the MLS to look for properties and see what is available, or read all the wonderful information she has on the area and on market conditions.

Soon I will be posting information about Pagosa Springs for those who would like to have that information too.  Just check back or sign up for the RSS feed.

Summit County is still my choice though, so keep reading for lots of articles about the area, the people, the businesses and of course, Breckenridge, Frisco, Silverthorne, Keystone, Copper Mountain and Dillon real estate.

These photos are Oregon, not Colorado!  Thanks to Thesa for the great photos.

Joanne - How far is Central Oregon from Summit County? Both areas are just beautiful.

Cyndee, Oregon is a long way away as we are pretty close to the center of the country, so it would take a couple of days to drive. But mountains are the same almost everywhere!
