What will my money buy?
Welcome to Summit County, Colorado real estate. Many people ask us what their money will buy here, so we thought we would give you a quick overview...
Summit County real estate is a good value when compared to other resort areas, whether they are ski or golf resorts. We happen to have both! All Summit County real estate for sale is updated daily on this website. We love mountain living and you will too!
$100,000
$100,000 or less will allow you to buy up to a quarter share of a condo in Copper Mountain or Dillon. There is nothing available in Breckenridge at this price. You can buy a lot in Park County, 30 minutes or more from Breckenridge ski area.
A mobile home in a park in Summit County, or a dilapidated A-frame in Jefferson, Colorado (about an hour from Breckenridge) might be possible. It will not buy you a cabin on a river on 5 acres.
$200,000
For $200,000 you can find your cabin in Park County, not Summit County, but it won't be on a river and probably not on 5 acres unless you are an hour or more from Breckenridge. Dillon has condos for less than $150,000, but they are not really ideal candidates for short term rentals if that is your goal.
There is little from which to choose in Breckenridge or Keystone.

Between $200,000 and $250,000 you can find very nice studios or one bedroom condos in Breckenridge, Keystone or Copper Mountain. In some instances they are close to the lifts, but are most likely small, between 400 and 600 square feet.
There are a few entry level condos with two, or even three, bedrooms in this price range, but they don't have the amenities for short term rentals. Often they are deed restricted to people that work in Summit County. Between $300,000 and $400,000 you begin to get a much better selection, mostly of two bedroom condos. Some are newer properties with garages or underground parking.
There still are no single family homes for sale in Summit County available under $400,000, but a few duplexes and townhomes are in this price range. However, for the best values in real estate, Summit County Colorado is a great place to be, especially when comparing to nearby areas such as Vail.

From $700,000 to $1,000,000, single family homes and nice townhomes in all areas of Summit County are available, unless you want to be at the base of Breckenridge, Keystone or Copper Mountain. There you will still be limited to two or three bedroom condos.
$1,000,000+
Move up to $1,000,000 and you will find newer, two bedroom condos near the base area at Breckenridge, a newer duplex in Frisco, a single family home in Frisco or near the golf course in Silverthorne. Homes for sale in Breckenridge Colorado are plentiful in the higher price ranges.
As you move up in price the homes get larger, but mostly it is a matter of the level of finish and the amenities. Our most expensive piece of residential Summit County real estate as of July, 2007, is a 10,800 square foot home that is ski-in and ski-out in Breckenridge for $7,000,000
