Editorial comment on the Summit County real estate blog
Tomorrow I will be posting my Summit County real estate update with the facts and figures about our market for the first ten months of the year. Today I am going to give you my first and only editorial comment on this election. I was an unaffiliated voter until this year as I believe in voting for the person rather than the party. This year I worked for Obama. Yesterday I went to the polls at 6am and stayed there until 7:30 pm, working as a poll watcher. It was interesting to see how many people voted, and how many were young. There were more than a few that I wondered if they were old enough to drive, much less vote! The turnout in Summit County was huge, with 70% of all registered voters voting early. It looks like most of the rest of them voted yesterday.
I spent part of the evening at the Obama campaign office last night watching the returns come in, and then went home to watch CNN and celebrate with my temporary roommates. I have been housing two women who drove, by themselves, from California and Utah to help in the Obama campaign. Colorado was a swing state, and very important to the campaign, so we needed a lot of boots on the ground here in Colorado. Their dedication to the cause is amazing. Immediately after the polls closed, it started snowing, and overnight we had 4-5″ of snow, with more predicted. Emily and Jessica are staying here today and will leave tomorrow for their respective homes. Then it will be back to work for all of us. Hopefully people will start to feel more confident in the new leadership and be more willing to spend a little money on resort real estate. We definitely have some good values. More tomorrow on that subject. Meantime, enjoy my little celebration video that I pulled off youtube.
